At HKU, the creative process is not only a means of artistic expression but also a method of conducting research. The Center for Research and Innovation connects artistic practice with both educational and professional fields, exploring how art can generate new knowledge and meaningful applications in society.

In their research, the creation of new connections through art and the discovery of novel applications for artistic practice are both the method and the goal. Researchers and students work collaboratively in dedicated research groups to develop insights at the intersection of art, society, and innovation.

All research activities at HKU are rooted in creative processes, making the act of creation itself a vehicle for inquiry, experimentation, and discovery. By integrating practice, theory, and societal engagement, the Center fosters research that is innovative, socially relevant, and deeply connected to the evolving world of the arts.

An der HKU ist der kreative Prozess nicht nur Ausdruck künstlerischer Praxis, sondern zugleich eine eigenständige Form der Forschung. Das Center for Research and Innovation verbindet künstlerische Praxis mit Bildungs- und Berufsfeldern und untersucht, wie Kunst neues Wissen hervorbringen und gesellschaftlich wirksam werden kann.

In der Forschung sind das Schaffen neuer Verbindungen durch Kunst sowie das Erschließen neuer Anwendungsfelder sowohl Methode als auch Ziel. In interdisziplinären Forschungsgruppen entwickeln Forschende und Studierende gemeinsam neues Wissen an der Schnittstelle von künstlerischer Praxis und gesellschaftlicher Anwendung.

Alle Forschungsaktivitäten an der HKU basieren auf kreativen Prozessen. Das künstlerische Arbeiten selbst wird dabei zum Instrument der Erkenntnis, des Experimentierens und der Innovation – praxisnah, gesellschaftlich relevant und eng mit der sich wandelnden Rolle der Künste verbunden.
